How to book a domain name?

You can book a domain name with the help of a registrar. A domain registrar is a bridge between the domain name registry and consumer (you). There is also another point of sale called domain resellers who are bridge between registrars and the end consumers. Ofter domain registrars choose to provide bulk services to resellers as well as end customers.

You will need to sign up with the registrar/reseller to create a user account with them. There are some details like registrant name, address, email address etc. that are required by the domain registry to book a domain name. You will need to specify those to your registrar/reseller so that those details can in turn be made available to the registry.

These details are in important as they are stored and made available to public as domain name whois service.
